They are our first buyers at Svaboda Court and they live in Proud Ground’s 150th home—meet Luiz, Chelsey and Max.
Talk about sacrifice: to save up for their new home, they lived with Luiz’s mom in her small place—Luiz, Chelsey & Max shared one bedroom. Now, Luiz says they look forward to a degree of privacy they’ve never really known.
Luiz, a manager at a coffee shop, and Chelsey, a student in the University of Portland’s MBA program, had some savings and good credit, but they knew that a market-rate home was not a feasible option. Explains Luiz, “Since our family is expanding we needed a home we could grow into. Proud Ground offered affordable homes and connections to resources. This is an amazing opportunity.”
Luiz and Chelsey secured their home loan through Proud Ground partner Umpqua Bank. Joseph Portillo, their loan officer, says it was a great experience helping Luiz and Chelsey, “Luiz and Chelsey demonstrated that when we combine clients who have great determination with non-profit and for profit companies with common goals, good things can happen.”
“Above all else,” Luiz says, “buying a house is the most beneficial decision I’ve made in my life.”
