Buy Your First Home with Proud Ground

  1. Read about Proud Ground’s qualifications to see if buying a home with Proud Ground is the right fit for you.
  2. Attend a free Proud Ground Information Session. Information Sessions are scheduled based on upcoming homebuying opportunities and are posted regularly. You can register for an Information Session here.
  3. Prepare your finances and get your documents in order. Submit a complete application packet in one email to ryan@proudground.org with “Homeownership Program” in the subject line. A complete application packet includes:
    • 3 months worth of recent paystubs for all income earners in the household
    • 3 years of tax returns and W2s from all income earners in the household
    • Most recent month of bank statements for all accounts (savings included)
  4. Meet with one of Proud Ground’s counselors to create a plan to become or stay mortgage ready. At your meeting, a $50 application fee is required. This fee can be waived if you are mortgage ready or if you are currently working with another HUD housing counseling program.
  5. Complete a required, first-time homebuyer class through one of our community partners.
  6. Apply for Proud Ground opportunities. Homeownership offerings (such as Downpayment Grants and physical Homes for Sale) are released to mortgage ready homebuyers and are posted on our website as they become available.
  7. If selected as a top buyer for a grant or a home, you will work with Proud Ground staff, a Proud Ground approved lender and a realtor to close on your new Proud Ground home!
