For a detailed list of program qualifications and then take Proud Ground’s ‘Do I Qualify’ quiz to see if buying a home with Proud Ground is the right fit for you. If you are likely to qualify, you will be sent an online application to complete.
(2) Attend a free Proud Ground Virtual Information Session
Offered in both English & Spanish. To sign up, visit our Events page to see the next available session. We also offer a pre-recorded Information Session, for this you will need to contact info@proudground.org to access it. If you need further accommodations to access the information session, please state the needed accommodations when you contact info@proudground.org.
(3) Prepare your finances and get your documents in order
-
Most recent 3 months’ worth of income documentation from all household income earners (i.e. paystubs, benefit statements, etc.).
Most recent 2 months worth of bank statements.
Most recent 3 years of federal tax returns, including all schedules (or the equivalent required if self-employed).
Most recent 3 years of W2s (or the equivalent required if self-employed).
If you have a copy, a recent credit report and score (not required, but helpful).
If you’re receiving services from another housing counseling agency please include your most recent action plan and household budget.
(4) Meet with one of Proud Ground’s counselors
Create a plan to become or stay mortgage ready. At your meeting, a $50 application fee is required. This fee can be waived if you are mortgage ready or if you are currently working with another HUD housing counseling program.
(5) Complete a required, 8-hour long first-time homebuyer class
Through one of our Partner Organizations or via our online Frameworks class.
(6) Apply for Proud Ground opportunities

Please follow the steps provided in each opportunity in order to be identified as a potential buyer.
(7) Work with Proud Ground
If you get selected as a top buyer for a grant or a home you will work with Proud Ground staff, a Proud Ground approved lender and a realtor to close on your new Proud Ground home!
