Ways to Give
Your Gift Helps Working Families Achieve the American Dream
As core neighborhoods continue to appreciate, households with lower incomes are often priced out of their communities. There is a critical need for homeownership for families who have historically been displaced and excluded from wealth-building opportunities.
Since our founding in 1999, Proud Ground’s community land trust model had helped more than 650 working families and a disproportionate number of households of color become first-time homeowners.
Proud Ground needs your support to help break the generational cycle of poverty. With your gift, we can expand permanently affordable housing opportunities in our community, ensuring multi-generational stability for families in Oregon and Southwest Washington. You can help make the American dream of homeownership a reality for working families.
If you have questions about giving—including bequests, gifts of stock, and gifts made from a donor advised fund—please contact Marilyn Kun or speak with your financial advisor.
“People that come from where I'm from typically stay renters and have no resources or aspirations to own a home. Walking through the doors of my own home was an amazing moment filled with gratitude for all the people who helped me on the journey…creating this life-changing opportunity for my family and me. My three-year-old was so ecstatic to have a space that was her own.”

Proud Ground honors general, restricted, and anonymous cash donations in the form of EFT payments, credit card payments, and checks payable to Proud Ground.
While we greatly appreciate one-time gifts, you may wish to consider making a monthly contribution of $10, $25, or more. Monthly giving allows you to spread your gift out over time and provides sustainability for Proud Ground.

Collectively, Small Decisions Make Big Changes
“As an individual, the affordable housing crisis facing our city seems daunting and my own effort seems small. But I love Portland; it’s my home, and I hope my small decisions inspire others’ small decisions. Together, we can be part of the affordable homeownership solution.”

Planned Giving Options
Planned giving offers a meaningful way to support housing equity while leaving a lasting legacy. At Proud Ground, we provide several options for individuals to consider:
Living Trusts: You can structure your trust to give assets to Proud Ground after your lifetime. This approach not only honors your charitable intentions but also ensures a smooth transfer of your assets without going through probate.
Bequests: You can designate a specific amount or asset to Proud Ground in your will. This straightforward approach allows you to continue supporting our mission even after your lifetime.
Charitable Remainder Trusts: These are investment accounts that provide income to you, the donor, for a specified period before the remaining assets are donated to Proud Ground. This arrangement allows you to receive tax benefits while supporting housing equality.
Charitable Gift Annuities: By transferring cash or property to Proud Ground with a minimum value of $10,000, you can receive fixed payments for the rest of your life while also benefiting our programs.
Qualified Retirement Accounts: Naming Proud Ground as a beneficiary of your retirement account can be a tax-efficient way to make a significant donation. This kind of gift is not subject to IRA taxation on distributions beyond your lifetime.
Life Insurance: You can name Proud Ground as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy, allowing your support for our mission to continue.
Transfer on Death Deeds: A transfer on death deed allows a property owner to designate Proud Ground as a beneficiary who will receive your property after your lifetime, circumventing the probate process.
Each of these options offers unique benefits and potential tax advantages, enabling you to contribute to our vision of affordable housing for first-time buyers, especially within BIPOC communities. Your planned gift can make a profound difference in creating sustainable homeownership opportunities.
Gifts from Your Estate Plan
“I give to Proud Ground because I believe that their model of permanent affordability is a good investment. I know that I am making a long-term impact in my community through both my real estate development investments and my individual donations to their nonprofit.”
