New Spirit Village

An Innovative, Affordable Neighborhood in Medford

The Development

The 6.1-acre site is located in Medford, Oregon on Meadows Lane, just southeast of the West Main Street and Lozier intersection. New Spirit Village will provide87single-familyhomes with permanent affordability through a Land Trust model. Each house will be uniquely individual in color and character, as well as fire-resistant and energy-efficient.

With its architect-designed streetscape and adjacent access to Lewis Park, New Spirit Village fosters community and recreation. The cobblestone streets, nearby shops, and neighborly front porches bring families together in a walkable community. Created through participatory design with future homeowners and social service agencies, this project sets a new standard for affordable, sustainable housing. The grand opening was in August 2024 for the first homes in this development.

The Homes and Community Amenities

Each single-family house is a one-story standalone building with a private driveway. The new construction homes have fire-rated roofing and siding, energy-efficient heating and cooling systems, and are solar ready with an EV charging outlet. Kitchen appliances include a two-door refrigerator, electric stove/oven, microwave, dishwasher, and washer and dryer.

All homes also have a front porch and fenced backyard with a concrete patio and storage shed. There are four floor plans: the Hummingbird, a 1-bed 1-bath; the Bluebird, a 2-bed 1-bath; the Cardinal, a 2-bed 2-bath; and the Dove, a 3-bed 2-bath.

ACCESS

ACCESS is the primary provider of education and counseling for potential homebuyers.

Proud Ground

Proud Ground owns the land and holds it in community trust, which means home buyers only have to afford the houses themselves. Prospective home buyers will gain access to Proud Ground’s Homeownership Education and Counseling programs, as well as access to down payment assistance grants and ongoing educational opportunities to support homeownership and financial stability.

The Rest of the Team
